What is it?

Obsidian GPS is an Android app designed specifically for Obsidian users who want to quickly save their current location directly into their vault. The app uses your phone’s GPS to capture precise coordinates and automatically generates a markdown file with:

  • Exact GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude)
  • Interactive Google Maps link for easy navigation back to the location
  • QR code visualization of the location (when compatible plugin is installed)
  • Customizable file names with automatic date/time stamps
  • User-defined prefixes for better organization
  • Direct saving to your chosen Obsidian vault folder

The app creates clean, structured markdown files that integrate seamlessly with your existing Obsidian workflow, making your saved locations searchable, linkable, and part of your broader knowledge system.
